Lion dancing is an ancient art that is believed to bring the community happiness, good fortune, good luck, good health, and prosperity. The fierce acrobatics and loud noises from music and firecrackers scare away evil spirits and bad karma.

 

The Hung Vuong Lion Dance Team takes pride in performing the traditional Chinese / Vietnamese Lion Dance throughout the DC metropolitan area. Our performances consist of acrobatics, music, and are extraordinary and exciting with one or more lions as desired. Traditional drumming, cymbals, a gong, and the lucky Buddha accompany our performers. A performance may last anywhere from 10-20 minutes and tailored to fit into your event’s schedule.

 

The HV Lion Dance team is a non-profit team that aims to promote culture and heritage through the traditional art of Lion Dancing. The team is an extracurricular program within our Boy Scout Troop aligning with BSA values of community service, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and physical fitness. The lion dance performers train weekly to master difficult skills and to perfect excellent performances.

 

Few performances in Asian culture are as important and meaningful as the lion dance. We will perform as guest performers for your event for any special occasions to include but not limited to: 

• New Years

• Grand Openings

• Festivals

• Banquets

• Weddings

• Birthdays

• Parades

• Parties

• And even provide an educational workshop!
